Platinum-cured organic silicone rubber is a special silicone material with excellent heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and aging resistance. It can be widely used in manufacturing various seals, shock absorbers, sensors, and insulation materials. Due to its excellent performance and wide application fields, platinum-cured organic silicone rubber is well-regarded in the industrial field.

 

Moreover, platinum-cured organic silicone rubber can also be used to prepare foamed materials. This material undergoes a vulcanization reaction at high temperatures, forming an elastic body with a three-dimensional network structure, which contains a large number of microporous structures. These microporous structures have good breathabilitysound absorption and buffering properties, and can be used to manufacture various foamed materials, such as silicone foamed mats, silicone foamed pipes, and silicone foamed boards. To improve the flame retardancy of platinum-cured organic silicone rubber, the following flame retardants can be added:

 

1. Flame retardant fillers: Common flame retardant fillers include carbon black, magnesium hydroxide, aluminum hydroxide, etc. These fillers can form a strong carbonization layer in the silicone rubber, preventing oxygen and heat from transferring inward, thereby achieving the purpose of flame retardancy.

2. Flame retardants: In addition to flame retardant fillers, platinum-cured organic silicone rubber can also be added with some chemical flame retardants to improve its flame retardancy performance. For example, phosphorus-containing compounds, halogen-containing compounds, etc. These flame retardants can produce non-combustible gases or chemical reactions during combustion, thereby inhibiting flame spread.

3. Antioxidants: Platinum-cured organic silicone rubber is prone to oxidative reactions at high temperatures, producing oxidative products. These products may reduce the flame retardancy of the silicone rubber. Therefore, some antioxidants can be added to inhibit the occurrence of oxidative reactions and maintain the flame retardancy of the silicone rubber.

4. It should be noted that when adding flame retardants, suitable flame retardants should be selected based on specific applications and requirements, and the addition amount should be controlled well. At the same time, attention should be paid to the compatibility and stability of flame retardants with silicone rubber to avoid negative impacts on the performance of silicone rubber.

 

Silicone flame retardant FR-3035 is a nitrogen-containing halogen-free environmentally friendly flame retardant. The product is a white fine powder with economical, efficient, excellent electrical and mechanical properties, no discoloration, low smoke, low corrosivity, and good safety for users. It has good compatibility with the environment and good thermal stability, making it ideal for material processing.

 

Its flame retardant principle: This product sublimates and absorbs heat to reduce the surface temperature of the polymer and eliminate air, which can accelerate the dissolution of droplets, thereby removing heat and combustible materials, changing the thermal oxidation degradation process to rapidly carbonize and form non-flammable carbonaceous materials. These carbonaceous materials expand and foam to cover the surface of the substrate, forming an insulating layer that blocks contact with air and the escape of combustible materials, effectively preventing the material from continuing to burn. At the same time, the non-flammable gases produced by decomposition cause the material to expand and form an expanded layer, which greatly reduces thermal conductivity and is beneficial for the material to self-extinguish from fire.

 

Ultra-thin silicone flame retardant FR-562A is a halogen-free, red phosphorus-free, environmentally friendly flame retardant developed by our company for customers who process silicone rubber flame retardants.

 

The main features of this product are:

(1) It is suitable for flame retardant applications in situations where silicone rubber products are relatively thin and small. When added in sufficient quantities, the resulting flame retardant products, even with a thickness of approximately 0.5 mm, will not burn up when subjected to vertical flame application for 60 seconds, and will self-extinguish upon removal from the flame.

(2) This product has undergone ultra-micron grinding and surface modification treatment, and has good compatibility with silicone rubber, which is easily dispersed in it and has little impact on the physical properties of the product.

(3) Common halogen-free phosphorus-nitrogen flame retardant silicone rubber products will produce powdering or fragmentation when heated continuously at 160°C, which poses a potential application hazard. Our FR-562A has overcome this defect, greatly improving safety.
